RAINBOW GOBLINS STORY Live At Budokan 1981 - 3LP + Slipmat

The official store limited edition includes an exclusive Masayoshi Takanaka slipmat!

This release features the legendary "RAINBOW GOBLINS STORY" concerts held at the Nippon Budokan on March 10th, 1981 (the same day the masterpiece album "Niji Densetsu THE RAINBOW GOBLINS" was released) and the following day.

For the first time, this single audio release compiles both the first act, which recreated the concept album "Niji Densetsu THE RAINBOW GOBLINS" (inspired by Ul de Rico's picture book "THE RAINBOW GOBLINS"), and the second act, which featured his hit songs.

A large rainbow neon sign hung on stage, its seven colors glowing in various patterns in sync with the music. State-of-the-art laser light shows at the time, combined with equipment piled up like mountains on stage, created a fantastical world. The seven musicians who appeared each wore costumes in the image colors of different goblins, and Takanaka, in a yellow jumpsuit with rainbow-dyed hair, played his rainbow metallic YAMAHA SG.

The analog record set consists of three LPs in primary colors: clear lime yellow, clear red, and clear blue, reminiscent of the rainbow Yamaha SG played in Act 1. It also includes a booklet filled with photos capturing the fantastical stage performance, which utilized the latest technology of the time.

The world of "Niji Densetsu" unfolded by Masayoshi Takanaka, who was at the peak of his popularity as one of Japan's leading guitarists. This legendary and moving stage performance is now revived with realistic sound, celebrating its 45th anniversary.

Mastering & Analog Cutting: Alex Wharton (Abbey Road Studios London)
Liner Notes: Masayoshi Kondo (Music Writer), Yoshinobu Maruyama (Kitty Artists Masayoshi Takanaka's Manager (at the time))
